Agricultural Upgrading in Singapore: Smart Farming
In Singapore, farmers are using technology to redefine "agriculture". They do not rely on nature for their livelihood. they rely on data, systems and perseverance.Every aspect of the planting environment, from water to nutrients, from temperature to light, is closely monitored.

Entering Green Harvest Farm, it feels like stepping into a future farm: In the transparent glass greenhouses, rows of leafy vegetables move along tracks slowly. Workers no longer bend down to plant seeds but instead focus on the data curves displayed on the screen.
Green Harvest covers an area of two hectares and is the largest glass greenhouse vegetable farm in Southeast Asia. Since it began operations in 2023, it can produce 2 to 4 metric tons of leafy vegetables every day.
The current greenhouses are fully automated - water is recycled and reused, saving approximately 80% of water compared to traditional farms; pests are prevented through positive pressure spaces, enabling zero pesticide use in cultivation; and the growth cycle of vegetables is also shortened by about 30%.
The most crucial aspect is the "24-hour after harvest" concept: from harvesting, vacuum pre-cooling, packaging to shelving, the entire process is completed within one day. The temperature of the vegetables is reduced from 30℃ to 2℃ - 6℃, and then they are transported by refrigerated trucks to supermarkets, maintaining freshness to the greatest extent.
